From President Bob Gilbert...

I am taking this time to welcome our new Board and support volunteers. On July 1, 2023, the AXP® membership selected the group to lead our Association for the next two years. Against some strange and questionable antics from a few, I believe that we have a Board that can continue the positive direction required to move the AXP® in the right direction. Therefore, I am pleased and honored to introduce you to your new AXP® Board.

President – Robert (Bob) Gilbert '68
First Vice President – Steve Kelly '67
Second Vice President – Jim Baas '74
Treasurer – Darlene Kelly Clark '70
Financial Secretary – Carrie Best Samander '91
Recording Secretary – Janice Daulbaugh Gouch '69
Chaplain – Barbara Roe Roth '68

I am also excited to have the most robust, enthusiastic, and reliable support team a Board could have. Though I still have a few members I want to join us, you will see that we have an amazing start:

Museum Chair – James E. Koski '73

Museum, Past Perfect & Tour Support Leads
Darlene Kelly Clark, '70 (doing double duty)
Dave Clark, '67
Don Clark, '68 (also Webmaster)
Judy Harrison, Honorary

Membership Chair – Janice Daulbaugh Gouch (doing double duty) '69

Executive Committee
Judy Harrison – Chair, Honorary (doing double duty)
Robert Allen – Co-Chair, '81
Lisa Walcott – Honorary
Ed Michaels – '58
More to come!!

I assure you all that our focus will be on the business of the AXP®. We will continue to learn from the past; but we will not dwell on it. We encourage members of the AXP® from all classes with a positive attitude and objective opinions to join our team - for the right reasons- One Family, One Goal!

GOD BLESS THE AXP®!!

AXP® NEEDS YOU!

When a Board has the challenges that we have had, together with the aggressive schedule of activities that we have developed to encourage renewed energy and interest in the AXP®, it requires people to help – both Board members and general volunteers.

Our AXP® membership is getting older as there has been no influx of ex-pupils since 1995. Though we have expanded membership eligibility to non-ex-pupils, there is still an inadequate number of our eligible folks who have been willing to step into leadership or voluntary positions.

Our Organization can not survive without your willingness to give a few hours to keep it alive! Your existing Board has arguably accomplished an unbelievable number of tasks this past year, but it has come at a high human price to their families, friends, and themselves. Despite this I have heard very few complaints from them. However, as their leader I’ll tell you without exaggeration that they-we cannot sustain this level of work without help.

The AXP® is more than a social organization. It is an organization whose mission is, among other things, to preserve the legacy of the Home. This requires dedicated folks who are willing and able to give 10 to 20 hours a month to the cause. For those of you who are not in the Xenia area, you can still participate. I live in Florida. The Furhman’s, our “ Thank you” letter team, live in Indiana. Our Membership Chairperson lives three hours away from Xenia. With the advent of Skype, Zoom, etc, we can conduct business effectively, when needed, from a distance.

Without people who are willing to put their ‘skin in the game’ to help keep our Home’s memory / legacy alive, it will fade away sooner than later.

THE AXP® NEEDS YOU!

Well, that’s all for now. Keep an eye out for more information. We will be updating things every month or as often as necessary.

Be safe, healthy, and care for each other,

Your Board
